Rideau Valley Field Naturalists

‘Stewardship’ is defined as a personal commitment to care for the land, and secondly, to sustain or enhance the land for the enjoyment of future generations.  The mandate of the Community Stewardship Council of Lanark County is to do just that.  The Council is a group of committed volunteers who work with the community for the benefit of our County’s natural environment.

As Lanark County is situated at the interface of the Canadian Shield and the limestone flats of the former Lake Champlain, we have 300,000 hectares, 3 large rivers and over 50 lakes to steward.  Join the RVFN on Sunday, May 3rd to hear from Jeff Ward, Stewardship Coordinator with the Council, about how they started, how they’re organized, some of the project they’ve done and some they are planning to do.  Jeff will show us how they work with landowners, interest groups such as the RVFN, associations, agencies and industry to identify local stewardship needs and help in making stewardship of our County a reality.

The RVFN meeting is open to everyone and takes place at 2 p.m., Sun. May 3, in the All-Purpose Room at the Perth and District Indoor Swimming Pool on Wilson Street at Sunset Boulevard.   There is a small admission fee of $5.00 for non-RVFN members.
